Creating a realistic waterfall requires a calculated balance of structural support stones and flat spillway ledges. Raw, irregular-cut flat slates are ideal for channeling water streams smoothly over a wide lip without excessive splashing.

To build a wild, organic-looking water column, pair flat slate sheets with textured, porous volcanic tufa stones. These lightweight, highly textured stones encourage moss and spore growth, creating a rich green facade over time while simultaneously acting as natural biological water filters.

Pond Borders & River Balls #

Pond liners and concrete bases must be carefully concealed using smooth, round materials to protect the structures from punctures and present an accurate riverbed look.

• Water-Safe Rounded Slabs: Rounded earth-toned boulders are extremely stable around high-moisture pond banks.
• Graded River Pebbles: Large smooth river pebbles can fill the spaces between heavy boulders, locking them securely in place.
• Prevent Algae: The smooth surface of river-worn stones minimizes stubborn grime and algae build-up compared to rough granite.
